Pet Breeding

Two Unchained pets can be bred at the creature keeper to produce a newborn. The parents are consumed by the breeding.

Requirements

  • Both parents are stabled with you.
  • Both are at stage 5 or higher.
  • One male and one female.
  • Their lineages are compatible (see below).
  • Both have had all relic abilities removed.
  • You have fewer than 3 followers out, so the newborn has room.

Lineages

Every Unchained pet belongs to a lineage: Molten, Aero, Blood, Death, Nova, Earth or Noxious. Every lineage can breed with every other lineage, except these two pairs:

  • Molten × Aero
  • Blood × Noxious

Use the breeding simulator in the creature keeper's window to check a pair before committing.

Outcomes

Each breeding rolls one of these outcomes:

Outcome What you get
Pure A new pet of one parent's species. Purity goes up by 2.5–7.5. 25% chance of +1 control slot (max 3). Damage, armor and poison resist get a +5% to +15% genetic bonus
Hybrid One parent's species with mixed lineage from both parents
Rare A rare species from the lineage pool (see below)
Miracle 1% chance of a legendary event creature

Odds

Odds depend on the parents' average blood purity and control slots:

Parents Pure Rare Hybrid
Same species 20% + purity × 0.4 (max 60%) — the rest
Same lineage, different species 20% + purity × 0.4 5% + purity × 0.1, +2% per extra control slot the rest
Different lineages — 5% + purity × 0.15, +2% per extra control slot the rest

A rare parent always produces a rare offspring.

Blood purity Average of both parents. −0.5 to −2.5 if they're different species. Pure outcomes add 2.5–7.5
Skill caps 50–75% of both parents' caps above 100 (max +20 combined) carry over
