Expeditions (Rifts)¶
Expeditions are 30-minute private mini-dungeons behind a rift portal. Kill enough monsters and a guardian appears. Guardians carry most of the treasure, including exclusive items.
Starting an expedition¶
Talk to Samael, the Expedition Master, in Britain, or say [Expedition.
- Pick a difficulty and pay with Achievement Points or Expedition Tickets:

- A random rift of that difficulty opens at your feet. Each rift can only be open once at a time; if none is free, try again later.
You can only open a rift from a town, safe zone or house, and not while you're busy (casting, fighting).
Who can enter¶
- The summoner, their party and their guild.
- Only one character per IP can be inside expeditions at a time (VIP accounts excepted).
- Stepping through shows a warning first.
Inside¶
- The rift lasts 30 minutes, then everyone inside is sent back out. Player corpses left inside are moved to the exit.
- Monsters keep respawning while players are inside.
- Guardian gauge: every monster you kill fills the gauge by its HP (100–1,000 per kill). At 15,000 the guardian spawns.
- No Recall, Gate Travel, Sacred Journey, Mark, Wall of Stone or Energy Field. No houses.
- Logging out inside takes 10 minutes.
- An exit portal inside takes you back.
Lawless rifts
A rift opened inside a Danger Zone is lawless: there are no combat restrictions inside, and anyone can be attacked and looted without penalty. The server announces it.

The portal shows the guardian's name and difficulty. Some portals show a different difficulty than the tier they come from.
Expedition Tickets¶
An Expedition Ticket lets you start an expedition without spending Achievement Points. Tickets also shorten the Doom champion timer by 1 hour, and they show up as rare loot.
