Lore & Utility Skills

Meditation

  • 100+ Meditation always succeeds. Below that:

    chance = 50% + (Meditation − missing mana) × 2%

  • You can't meditate in armor that isn't meditable, or below 10% HP.

  • Allowed in hand: spellbook, runebook, Eldritch Orb, Summoner Lantern, Shepherd's Crook, mage staves, torches, lanterns and candles. Shields are off by default (staff setting).
  • Active meditation makes mana regen 35% faster. Full mana regen rules are on the Player page.

Spirit Speak

  • On success you can hear ghosts for Spirit Speak / 50 × 90 seconds (min 15 s).
  • With a Summoner Lantern equipped, a success also leeches souls (once every 10 s).
  • Spirit Speak also powers summons, necromancy damage and pet resurrection. See Spellcasting and Creatures.

Inscription

  • Copies books (skill check 0–50).
  • Its real value is in combat. See Spellcasting:
    • buff duration up to +60%,
    • scroll damage in PvM up to +50%,
    • magic reflect against monsters,
    • spell protection (Protection spell).

Arms Lore

  • Shows a weapon's or armor's condition and damage.
  • Protects your weapon: each point of Arms Lore lowers the chance of losing durability. That's 2% per 10 points (20% at 100).

Item Identification

  • Identifies items and shows their value.
  • At 100 base, targeting a container identifies every weapon and armor inside.
  • With wands, it gives a chance to echo the spell for big bonus damage. See Spellcasting.

Anatomy

  • Shows a target's Strength and Dexterity. At 65+ it also shows their stamina.
  • Adds weapon damage. See Combat Formulas.

Evaluating Intelligence

  • Shows a target's Intelligence. At 76+ it also shows their mana.
  • Scales spell damage (+0.45% per point above 100, counts as 100 in PvP) and buff strength.

Taste Identification

  • Detects poison on food.
  • Speeds up mana regen and cancels the armor penalty on mana regen (fully at 120). See Player.

Forensic Evaluation

  • Shows who killed and looted a corpse, who picked a lock, and whether someone is a thief.
  • Paladins: evaluating a murdered person's corpse shows where the murderer (5+ counts) was last seen.
